Enhancing lives of animals & their people

Shari L. Seymour with T.K., Reno & Montana

“The Old Animal Helper”

About Shari...

Shari, a skilled artist, possesses a natural talent for capturing the spirit of animals.

Since 1974, her personalized animal portraits have enriched the lives of many people around the
world. As a result of her unique ability to connect with animals on a deep level, she is able to
portray their essence in her artwork.

Her passion for animals and their well-being was evident from a young age.

At 17, while working at a bustling veterinary hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, she began
exploring ways to aid animals recovering from injuries, surgeries, and the challenges of old age.

She was formally trained and worked as a professional in the Human Health Care field for twenty
years, but her true love and goal was to work with animals and help them live their best lives.

As part of her quest during the last 40 years, Shari educated herself in: (animal) Anatomy,
Physiology, Myology, Behaviour, Conditioning, Massage, Reiki, Holistic Practices, Therapeutic
Magnetics, Tissue Taping, Infra Red Light Therapy and Canine Hydrotherapy,.

During that same timeframe and today, she collaborates with like-minded holistic veterinarians,
massage therapists, veterinary technicians, reiki masters, animal trainers, and physiotherapists
to share information and broaden her abilities to help animals.

In 1994 she joined forces with J. P. Hourdebaigt RMT. Together they created programs through
Massage Awareness Inc. for horse and dog lovers to learn massage techniques for their animals.
Shari also illustrated and edited “Equine Massage a Practical Guide” and in 1996 she co-authored
and illustrated “Canine Massage a Practical Guide.

Since 2006 Shari has built, worked in and overseen 4 facilities complete with

Hydrotherapy Pools for small animals (dogs and cats).

Forty years and thousands of animals later, Shari enters a different phase of her life. Her goal is to
teach others what she has learned so they can assist animals in feeling better, staying strong and
enjoying a great quality of life.

Working with Horses

“Horses are very sensitive creatures. Due to their nature where they are
programmed to literally run for their lives...when they allow you in their space, it
is profound. But once they realise you are going to help them feel better...they
melt into your hands and show you everywhere they want you to work. I have
seen horses run from the back pasture to see me once they know that I am here
to help them feel better.”

Equine Massage Therapist since 1994

By alleviating fascial restrictions, muscle tension and pain...you
have a much happier and willing equine partner.

You will establish a closer bond and see less negative behaviour
in your horse.

Horse lover and Equestrian since 1967

Working
with Dogs

Hydrotherapy is nothing short of
miraculous in restoring mobility

Canine Hydrotherapist since 2006

Canine Massage Therapist and
Therapeutic Bodyworker

since 1995

Dog “furmom” since childhood

Canine Proprioception Coach
since 2007

Through hands-on body work like massage,
stretching, fascial release...

positive changes happen.

Compensatory tension from pain/injury or
surgery affects all areas of the body....
including it’s posture and how it moves.

Assisting dogs in reducing tension, gaining
core strength and body awareness helps
them become stronger and less prone to
injury or arthritis.

Shari’s Spirit
Capturing Artwork

Shari began drawing and
painting animals when she was 5
years old. She works from
photographs you supply. Soft
Pastel is her medium of choice
but she will create in: Graphite,
Charcoal, Acrylic and Oil.

As she has been doing since 1974
when she began doing portraits
for customers, she includes a
tissue as most people are so
moved by the painting, they
become emotional.

“Time disappears when I create animal portraits for
people of the animals they love. I become
immersed in the beauty of their personalities and
who they are”
